Who We Are

History

After World War II, Vincent J. Carrano started a local Connecticut trucking company. Through the 50’s and 60’s the transportation industry was stagnant. In the 1970’s, with trucking deregulation pending, the founder’s sons started a warehouse company to help their customers in a new way.

That company evolved into what is today, a public warehouse and distribution company with a private fleet common carrier to complete the supply chain.

We didn’t invent third party logistics, but the Carrano family has been doing it since before it was called third party logistics!

How It Works

Your business (like all businesses) sells products to customers. The products you sell come from a factory somewhere. If you are the manufacturer, you have to be sure to recognize that just because you build things, your primary business function remains the same – making the sale. If you use a third party factory, you already understand where we are going.

The sale of goods requires a couple things; 1) the purchasing or manufacturing function, 2) the sales function, and 3) the distribution function. We cannot purchase, manufacture or sell the goods for you. We can however, streamline your distribution operation saving money and headaches.

Here’s what we do to take your mind off your shipping operation:

* You only pay for the space and services you use

* As your inventory levels go up and down, so does your monthly rent - try that with the landlord!

* If your business is seasonal, what happens to those valuable employees in your “off-season?” How much time does it take to retrain fulfillment people every year?

* We have already made the IT investment in a custom WMS to accurately and dependably track goods by the pallet, carton, piece, or pound. We know where everything is at all times!

* Our IBM AS400 is a state of the art inventory locator.

* Manufacturing space is valuable. If you are currently using part of your factory as a warehouse, you need to ask yourself if that space could better be used to make your products.

* Who covers when there’s a warehouse guy on vacation? Or out sick? Someone from the plant? Someone from the office? You? Any of the above answers don’t necessary get the right product to your customers in a timely manner. And they certainly don’t help you concentrate on what’s important.

* Equipment…forklifts, pallet racks, order pickers, tape shooters, stackers…we’ve got them and our people are fully trained on all the equipment they use every day. Using VJC, you won’t have to buy and maintain (have you called a forklift repair company lately? $85 per hour plus travel – then the parts).
